Compact design as a heavy composite structure
Touchscreen control unit
Even the basic version of the T12 comes equipped with a modern touchscreen control unit. Its touch-sensitive screen and self-explanatory icons make this unit easy to use – especially for inexperienced operators. Together with easy-to-follow menus, it contributes to reducing set-up times and guarantees first-class results. A powerful database allows you to input and save data for as many as 500 tools and 100 program settings. Alphanumerical sorting makes the selection of the required tool or program considerably easier.
Fence
The fence of the T12 was originally developed for the premium class and stands out because of a sophisticated bilateral guidance system. This provides a reproducibility of ±0.025 mm, which is unparalleled in compact-class machines. With precision like this, which also applies to the cutting height, even counter profiles can be cut to the highest accuracy without any problems. In the basic version of the T12, the fence is set via hand wheel according to a digital display in the control unit and can also be controlled completely electronically in a motorised version. If the fence has to be removed from the table, e.g. for curved mouldings, the robust but precise mechanical fittings make time-consuming referencing after re-configuration unnecessary.
Infinitely variable rotational speed control
Optional variable rotational speed control is almost obligatory these days when it comes to plastics processing! Whereas the basic version of the T12 works flexibly with five speeds (3,000 / 4,500 / 6,000 / 8,000 / 10,000 rpm), the variable controls for the cutter spindle allow the rotational speed to be varied from 1,000 to 12,000 rpm – even with the machine running. Thanks to the large speed range, even high-speed tools such as end mills or T-groove mills can be used at an ideal cutting speed. Motors are available from 7.5 to 11 kW to provide the required power.
HSK quick-change system
The new HSK tool interface is the ideal extension for users who regard their spindle cutter as an effective supplement to their CNC machining centre or wish to change their tools quickly and easily as a unit with the arbor. If the basic T12 machine is equipped with MARTIN’s proven DornFix quick-change system, the pneumatic HSK system can be selected as an option. Using this technology, you can change the tool / arbor unit within a few seconds. Especially when working with end mills or T-groove mills, the HSK system will result in enormous set-up time savings.
AutoLock fence jaw clamping system
Fence jaws are moved on a regular basis for optimum adjustment of the fence opening to the tool. But how often is the clamping forgotten about afterwards and the jaws are damaged? The optional AutoLock fence jaw clamping system ensures secure clamping of the standard and integral fence jaws in a simple and safe manner. The jaws are always securely clamped by spring force. The clamping is only released with the easily accessible levers for adjustment. Completely without an electrical or pneumatic system.
Composite frame
Even though the T12 looks quite slim and light, it actually weighs in at a hefty 950 kilos and proves its merits with exceptional stability. The spindle cutter owes this to its sturdy composite frame. An intelligent combination of steel and concrete provides a heavy, robust and, above all, vibration-absorbing frame. It forms the perfect basis for the heavy cast-iron table top and the cutter spindle with precision bearings, thereby laying the foundations for first-class results.
Controls and Features
Motorised positioning of the fence
Motorised positioning of the fence enables all the settings which were previously made with the hand wheel to be made comfortably and accurately via the control unit. The fence settings can be approached with pinpoint accuracy owing to the reproducibility of ± 0.025 mm, which is extremely high for a compact-class machine. Even critical settings can thus be accurately positioned.
Digital display of the right-hand fence jaw
The positioning of the right-hand fence jaw via hand wheel is displayed on the control unit with high accuracy. Not only does this replace the scale and the vernier scale but the electronically recorded position of the fence jaw can also be saved in the controller and quickly and easily accessed when needed. The incremental movement is also easily possible owing to the integration in the controller.
Table extensions
The table extensions are executed in cast iron on both sides and connected to the machine table completely without a transition. The stable extendable support provides support at the front. The processing of large components therefore becomes a simple matter.
Spring collets for cutter arbor
If you also wish to use your end mills or T-groove mills on the machine, the collet arbor is the ideal option for your spindle cutter. The spring collets are easy to exchange and available for end mill shank diameters of 3-25 mm, so that the arbor can be used flexibly. The optional infinitely variable speed adjustment is recommended in conjunction with small tool diameters.
Integral fence jaws
The fence opening should always be closed as much as possible, so that the workpiece can be safely guided and slide along the fence. Both are provided by the tried-and-tested integral fence. The bars of the jaws consist of hard-coated aluminium and can be easily folded in position, released and also varied in height. The bar cassettes can also be removed effortlessly, allowing you to work with a wooden insert.
Console for feed support leg
Any standard feed support legs can be mounted on the optional console, and naturally also our comfort support leg.
Comfort feed support leg
The universal support leg impresses with the simple swivelling away and positioning with the Memo-Lock system. This means that the feed locks home exactly in the starting position after being swivelled away e.g. for a tool exchange. The height adjustment is very precise as a result of the digital height display. The height is adjusted quickly and comfortably from the operator side. Large-sized locking levers ensure that the support leg can be clamped quickly and easily. The support leg can be perfectly combined with the feeds of the Variomatic series.
BowmouldMaster
This optional safety and working device enables the quick and safe moulding of curved workpieces, also with the feed unit. The BowmouldMaster can be quickly and easily mounted and adjusted on the machine table without any tools and enables moulding to be carried out in an anti-clockwise and clockwise direction. It is supplied instead of the standard CPS Tapoa 08 guard. You can either work with a ring fence (option) or a curved moulding fence (option).
Centrex guard
The Centrex stands out due to perfect functionality, an attractive design as well as optimum placement on the fence housing. All the functions can be quickly and easily set with only a few steps and without tools. The special form of the pressure shoes guarantees precise workpiece guidance with high visibility of the work step. Pressure can also be exerted on the workpiece for insert cutting.
Guide bars for standard moulding jaws
The guide bars provide perfect support for the workpiece. They prevent workpieces from falling into the fence opening and can be used in almost any case as a result of their slender construction. The bars of the jaws are made of anodised aluminium and are simply inserted into the T-slots of the fence jaws from above and moved into position. These bars have the dimensions 260 x 3 mm, but are also available with the dimensions 260 x 6 mm and 300 x 6 mm as an option.
Sliding table
The sliding table is the ideal partner irrespective of whether you profile larger cross-sections across the grain, cut counter profiles or carry out tenoning and mortising tenoning work. The sturdy table provides a large and safe support and can be turned in both directions by up to 45°, and even up to 65° in the case of the fence. As a result, diagonally cut workpieces, e.g. in special window construction, can also be securely clamped and processed. The sliding table has a large travel of 1,400 mm, in order to be able to extend it for the safe processing of large workpieces. Tools up to 350 mm ø can be safely used on a 40 mm arbor with the supplied mortising guard. If the sliding table is not required, it forms a perfect left-hand table extension, since the table can be lowered to machine table level. The guide beam can be easily moved to the rear and is thereby level with the front of the machine.
Swinging support
The advantages of the swinging support for the fence are abundantly clear: To remove the fence from the machine table, it is simply released from the table, raised via hand crank and moved to the parking position. The machine table is free in no time and the requisite special safety guards can be attached without any problems with space.
Fence for insert cutting
This optional retrofittable fence is a useful aid for dangerous insert cutting jobs. It enables you to process such jobs accurately and safely. This accessory can also be mounted on the left-hand extension of the table length, making it possible to position grooves exactly. The start and stop point are determined simply and precisely and with high repetition accuracy. When this option is not needed, the fence can be simply folded under the extension of the table length without any problems. Unfortunately the option cannot be supplied without table extensions.
