Electronic control

The standard, clearly arranged controller of the T45 accelerates operation of the machine, i.e. it saves time and minimises operating errors. The target dimension is input in “whole” dimensions, a decimal place only has to be input if it is needed. This also saves time and minimises operating errors. The electronics offer storage capacity for 99 planing dimensions, any desired definable incremental dimension can be assigned under program “0”. The planing dimensions increase the comfort, the incremental dimension facilitates the removal of larger amounts. A new dimension does not have to be specified each time.

TERSA cutter block

The TERSA solid steel cutter block with its form-locked knife holders enables any surfaces to be perfectly planed – and a blade can be changed in less than a minute. TERSA reversible blades are available in four different qualities, i.e. the perfect blade for each task. In addition to this, the standard Z4 block can be operated as a Z2 cutter block by using two dummy blades.

T45 Contour

The planer becomes a profiling machine. The T45 Contour offers globally unique solutions for the safe planing and profiling of surfaces in one pass. Standard, corrugated back blades can be quickly and easily inserted in the profile blade slots. The blades are inserted radially. The blade setting gauge supplied as standard considerably reduces the set-up times. Profiles can be planed quickly, easily and with repeated accuracy up to 630 mm wide and 25 mm deep. The T45 Contour opens up an unimagined variety of new products and possibilities. In addition to conventional thickness planning, you can, for example, profile complete solid bench seat surfaces or manufacture perfect round bars. Panels can be decorated with attractive profiles quickly and easily; grooved terrace decks can also be planed in just one production step. In short: An enormous increase in the product range of the company!

Xplane

The new 3-row Xplane cutter block from MARTIN impresses even when idling with remarkably smooth running. This impression is reinforced as soon as the block is engaged, as the block operates extremely quietly. Even the biggest depths of cut require a surprisingly low motor rating – another advantage. However, the surface quality which can be achieved with the Xplane, even on difficult woods, is really breathtaking.

Composite frame

The machine frame of the T45 is a sturdy and thick-walled composite structure whose design can only be found with this degree of technical perfection in MARTIN machines. Otto Martin invented this method of construction in the 1920s and had it registered as a design patent back then. Today, after more than 90 years of continual improvement, MARTIN still uses this simple and effective principle of frame construction. The intelligent combination of steel and concrete creates a high quality
machine frame which is unparalleled when it comes to stability, absorbing capacity and torsion resistance. The vibrations which occur in any planer are absorbed many times more effectively than in cast-iron or even welded frames. This frame is the perfect basis for perfect work!

Table guide

Four sturdy supporting spindles installed in the 12 cm thick frame support the thicknessing table, so that it is secure against tilting, and absorb the pressure forces exerted from above. Two sturdy two-dimensional prismatic guides divert the arising shear forces.

Thicknessing table extension

Irrespective of whether short or long workpieces are planed, the sturdy thicknessing table extension usually dispenses with the need for a second person behind the machine. Short workpieces do not fall on the floor and long pieces are supported at the out-feed side. The table extension always moves synchronously with the thicknessing table and the accessory can be retrofitted without any problems.
Choose between the long version with 1,200 mm or the short, foldable version with 450 mm. The short version can also be mounted on the infeed side.

Irrespective of whether short or long workpieces are planed, the sturdy thicknessing table extension usually dispenses with the need for a second person behind the machine. Short workpieces do not fall on the floor and long pieces are supported at the out-feed side. The table extension always moves synchronously with the thicknessing table and the accessory can be retrofitted without any problems.
Choose between the short, foldable version with 450 mm or the long version with 1,200 mm. The short version can also be mounted on the infeed side.

Second outfeed roller

The workpiece transport of problematic materials and short workpieces can be improved by means of a second rubber outfeed roller – especially if no lubricant can be used. The second outfeed roller is also available as a steel roller.

Infinitely variable feed

You can also switch between the standard feed speeds of 6 and 12 m/min during planing. Even better, the feed speed can be adjusted with the optional infinitely variable feed control. This option allows variable feeds between 2 and 25 m/min – depending on the design.

Steel segmented infeed roller

The steel segmented infeed roller is an indispensable aid for processing wet wood with large cross-sections. Differences in thickness of up to 2 mm are compensated for on the infeed side without any problems. There is practically no wear. The steel segmented infeed roller always provides a very high transport capacity as a result of the spiral toothing. However, this infeed system is less suitable for fine planing.

Adjustable table rollers on the thickness table

The thicknessing table should be equipped with table rollers, in order to use the wear-resistant steel infeed and outfeed rollers in the best possible manner. In particular, wet wood with large cross-sections can be optimally transported by this means. The table rollers can be infinitely variably set from 0 – 1 mm above table level via a scale. This system is less suitable for working with small cross-sections and for anyone who makes the highest demands on the planing result.

1.5 mm planing thickness

With this option, we offer you the possibility of reducing wood and plastics down to the thickness of thick veneer through machining. Workpieces with a residual thickness of 1.5 mm can be perfectly manufactured through respective adjustments to transport and pressure equipment as well as the kickback arrestors. A residual thickness of 1.5 mm corresponds to the thickness of a five Euro cent coin.

Extraction nozzle

The standard extraction nozzle of the T45 provides perfect clearance of the shavings. You simply decide whether to connect the machine on the left or right of your extraction system on site, the conversion only takes a few minutes.

T45 and T54: Two singles – a perfect couple

You encounter two specialists which complement each other to perfection with the T54 surface planer and the T45 planer. Each of the machines is designed for its task without any compromises and provides optimum work results. The required machine is immediately available without time-consuming conversions and the two machines together take up hardly any more space than a combination machine thanks to the space-saving set-up. In contrast to a combination machine, both machines can also be operated in parallel without any restrictions – even by one person through optimum handling and the short distances.

Choose between the Contour15 and the Contour25 and achieve a maximum possible profile depth of 15.5 and 25 mm respectively. Both machines are supplied with the "Contour Profiling" cutter block with 4 TERSA knife pockets and 2 slots for mounting corrugated back blades. The planing width is 630 mm, the planing heights vary between a convincingly low 2.8 and sturdy 300 mm. The exceptionally high depth of cut of 12 mm provides clear evidence of the heavy and robust construction of this machine.

The name says it all. The T45 Contour offers globally unique solutions for the safe planing and profiling of surfaces in one pass. Choose between the Contour15 and the Contour25 and achieve a maximum possible profile depth of 15.5 and 25 mm respectively. Both machines are supplied with the "Contour Profiling" cutter block with 4 TERSA knife pockets and 2 slots for mounting corrugated back blades. The planing width is 630 mm, the planing heights vary between a convincingly low 2.8 and sturdy 300 mm. The depth of cut on the T45 Contour25 is limited to 5 mm during planing operation.

Cutter block
The TERSA solid steel cutterblock with 4 blades provides the best surfaces especially when processing hard materials. A quick and easy change between Z4 and Z2 component parts is possible through the systematic use of dummy blades. The blade can be changed in a matter of seconds thanks to TERSA. Four blade qualities are available. The T45 planer is equipped with a 4-blade block as standard. This an option in the T54 surface planer.

The TERSA solid steel cutter block with 25° works less aggressively than the standard cutter block. This offers advantages, particularly in processing plastic or in general with thin workpieces. A quick and easy change between Z4 and Z2 component parts is possible through the systematic use of dummy blades. Changing the blade takes a matter of seconds and you have a choice of four blade qualities.

The two standard speeds are switchable during planing.
Feed speed 6 / 12 m/min
The infinitely variable feed enables ideal adjustment to the desired quality of planing. The substructure is planed at 25 m/min., the fine moulding at 6 or even only 5 m/min.

The infinitely variable feed enables ideal adjustment to the desired quality of planing. The reduced speed range is perfectly tailored to the processing of plastic but is also recommended for contour machines.

The smooth steel outfeed roller replaces the standard rubber feed roller. Its primary advantage lies in its freedom from wear, but the traction is also significantly reduced. We generally recommend the rubber feed roller.

The manual application of lubricant to the thicknessing table is frequently a time-consuming task. The automatic lubrication system, which is also retrofittable, reduces your workload here and provides uniform dosing at the same time. If lubricant is not required, you simply throw a lever and the system is no longer active.

Special equipment for T45 Contour
Depending on the shape of the profile to be produced, it may be necessary to hold and guide the workpiece perfectly along the out-feed side of the cutter block. You can apply systematic pressure where it is required by means of individually adjustable pressure elements. If required, the pressure device can be simply exchanged for the discharge pressure bar.

These knives are eminently suitable for processing plastic, especially for very hard plastics and minimal planing thicknesses. We recommend these knives for planing heights on plastic below 4 mm. These knives are supplied in one piece, lengths > 635 mm are supplied divided.

The rotational speed is 1,000 rpm higher than the standard speed and enables the cutter block to reach the optimum cutting speed of 40 m/sec. The planing results are thereby considerably improved.
Special rotational speed of 6,000 rpm
The earthing of the extraction hood and the pressure equipment reduces the adherence of statically charged material. This option is essential for processing plastic.
Antistatic version
The table is supplied with a smoothly ground surface instead of a fine-planed table surface. As a result, even the most sensitive materials are gently processed.
Thicknessing table surface, flat-ground
With its ground surface and its two vacuum table holddowns, this table offers ideal conditions for the impact-free planing of thin and the thinnest materials. The vacuum applied in the vicinity of the cutter block prevents thin workpieces from lifting into the cutter block. The two table holddowns are connected to an external vacuum blower. We recommend this option to any plastics processor.
Vacuum table
This option is used to increase the positioning accuracy under higher loads. We especially recommend this option for plastic processing. If desired, the positioning accuracy is set to 0.05 mm.
Brake motor for thicknessing table drive
The freedom from impact when planing thin workpieces (minimum planing height 2.8 mm) is appreciably improved by reducing the pressure bar spacing and reducing the maximum depth of cut to 5 mm. Recommended for processing plastic and for fine woodwork. This option is only available with an infinitely variable feed.
Reduced pressure bar spacing
This option package reduces the minimum planing thickness from 2.8 to 1.5 mm. The pressure bar spacing is reduced, the kickback arrestors are adjusted and the maximum depth of cut limited to 5 mm. This option is only supplied in combination with the vacuum table and an infinitely variable feed.
Minimum planing height 1.5 mm
This option is a perfect addition to the vacuum table. The blower is especially tailored to the requirements of the vacuum table and the implemented machining operations.

This option facilitates the maintenance of your machine to a considerable degree. No more handling oil cans, just a simple press of the lever and the maintenance is finished.
Central lubrication via oil pump
This enables the activation of the move to the next program value of the planing sequence in the memory from a distance of up to 6 metres (cable length 6 m).
